Winter is here and so are dry and chapped lips. As soon as the weather changes, the skin of the lips starts to crack and peel and bleed as well. It does not only look cringe-worthy but feels very painful at the same time. Using the regular lip-balm does not even suffice.
What to do to hydrate the lips and keep them soft in winter? Fret not! Here are some easy tips that will leave your lips not only soft but with a beautiful hue as well. Plus, they are also easy on the pocket. So, read through and thank me later!
Beetroot Lip Balm
Beetroot juice has a natural pink tint in it. Therefore, you can use to prepare your own completely organic lip balm. All you need to do is take 10 drops of beetroot juice and add it to your Vaseline. Also, add two drops of argan oil as it is very hydrating for dry skin. Store it in a small container and apply it whenever your lips start to crack.
Sugar Lip Scrub
Exfoliating the lips becomes essential during winters if you want to keep all the dead and flaky skin at bay. You do not need to get an expensive lip scrub. You can simply make one of your own with the ingredients present in your kitchen. Just take one spoon of raw honey and add powdered brown sugar to it. Apply the mixture using your toothbrush. However, make sure you scrub gently without hurting your lips.
Hydrating Lip Mask
Just like your face needs a mask for long-lasting benefits, the lips also needs the moisture to be locked in them and that is exactly when the lip masks come in handy. There are a lot of Korean sheet masks available in the market for lips which you can try or you can simply make one at home. All you need is some Shea butter and two drops of argan oil and olive oil each. Apply one layer of it on your lips and the place a tissue paper on the lips. Then, apply another layer of it and cover the lips once again with the tissue paper. Take it off after 10 to 15 minutes.
Use a Lip Serum before Bedtime
Serums are essential in the intense dry weather like winter. It does not only work wonders for the skin but for the lips as well. My favorite lip serum is from Fresh and you must give it a try. Apply it before you go to bed and it will seep into your lips and lock the moisture while reducing the appearance of lines and cracks on the lips. You will wake up with pinker, softer and smoother lips each morning.
